Are you researching geneology or a historic gravestone?
We are the congregation associated with the historic Germantown Meetinghouse site, but we aren’t the historians.
For geneological records, visit The Mennnonite Heritage Center.
For gravestone information, visit The Germantown Mennonite Historic Trust.
Otherwise, please message us through the form below, or contact the church office.
Staff
Jay Bergen, Pastor
(they/them)
Jay is a third-generation Mennonite pastor who finds God in silence, singing, street protests, silly youth group activities, and Sunday morning worship. Jay has worked for Community Peacemaker Teams in Iraqi Kurdistan and Palestine, served as Co-Clerk of the Board of Earth Quaker Action Team, and holds an MDiv from Drew Theological School. They enjoy reading nerdy books, being disappointed by Philly sports, cooking, and organizing with Mennonite Action and the New Sanctuary Movement. They live in West Philly.
Douglas Witmer, Office Administrator
(he/him)
Douglas and his family have been part of the Germantown Mennonite Church community since first moving to Philadelphia in 1995. He has been GMC's office administrator since the fall of 2023.
Douglas is probably better-known as an internationally-exhibiting abstract artist and co-owner of West Philadelphia's beloved Green Line Cafe. He would also like to pet your dog.
