Catching Up on Pastor Kipp

Last updated Mar 11, 2009
Interim pastor, Kipp Gilmore-Clough (rhymes with “cuff”), was installed at Germantown Mennonite Church on January 4, 2009.

Kipp and wife, Cathy, reside in Philadelphia; he is pursuing a PhD in religion at Temple University and will be serving our congregation on a part time basis.

After earning a BS in social work from Messiah College in 1996, Kipp went on to Eastern Baptist Seminary, now Palmer Seminary, where he completed an M Div and he also completed an MSW at Temple University.  He has worked as a foster care social worker, a hospice worker and completed four years as fulltime pastor at Cheltenham United Methodist Church in the Philadelphia area prior to his coming to GMC.

Kipp grew up in Gaithersburg, MD; he has one younger brother.  At an early age, he developed a love for magic tricks!  He took tap dance lessons for nine years and has dabbled in or taken lessons on piano, drums, oboe, guitar - and most loves to sing!  He loves to read a good novel or poetry in his leisure time.  Kipp runs to keep in shape.  Kipp and Cathy enjoy their trips to Maine where Cathy’s parents live.

As a musician himself, Kipp has already expressed appreciation for the hearty four-part a’cappella singing in our congregational worship. We welcome his leadership with enthusiasm and already appreciate his warm personality, sense of humor and his commitment to Biblical preaching and social justice issues.
