GMCers Work at MCC Material Aid Center to Celebrate Martin Luther King Day
Jenny Ann says the
volunteers helped check school and health kits and shredded books (that's really fun!) for recycling to pulp. They also learned that it only takes about five pairs of jeans to make a recycled-jeans rug. That means GMC contributed the equivalent of about 15 rugs this year, which will be sold for about $450 - that's a lot of shipping we helped finance! Good job, everyone.

Last year after volunteering at the MCC Material Aid Center on Martin Luther King Day, one of our young people asked that GMCers bring used or worn out jeans and corduroys to be used in making rugs and quilts.  .  He now has had 2 very successful drives.  Galen reports that MCC is going to be asking other churches to collect jean and corduroy items.  (As the good book says - "A little child shall lead them" Isaiah 11:6)
